ABOUT ME

My name is João Pedro Jorge and I currently work as Principal Software Engineer at Samsung Research UK.

I'm currently leading a team whose R&D is focused both on Stylized Character Rendering and AR.

I previously worked in VFX at Framestore as an R&D Developer and before that as an intern at Digital Domain. I've worked in software used in several movies and got credits in Gravity (Best VFX Oscar) and 47 Ronin.

The Projects section catalogs some of the most interesting (albeit old) projects from my University days.

3D Software

I have used Houdini and Maya for 6 years, having developed a variety of plugins for both applications while working in VFX.

3D Rendering Engines

I have experience with both real-time and offline 3D rendering engines. While I have used Unity in several different projects and I have also done plugin development for Renderman and Arnold.

Real-time Rendering

I have roughly 6 years worth of experience in real-time rendering and optimization, most of it for mobile platforms. While most of my experience is with using OpenGL (and GLSL), I also have experience with Unity and shader writing in CG.

Operating Systems

I have experience with the 3 main operating systems: Linux, Windows and Android. I spent most of my career working with Linux and, to a certain extent Android, in a cross-platform environment. I also spent a considerable amount of time developing with Windows, typically using Visual Studio.
